Lauren Creese is a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Fort England Hospital (FEH) in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, with over 20 years of clinical experience in both the state and private sectors. Prior to completing her clinical psychology training, she worked in London as a teaching assistant at the Bethlem and Maudsley Hospital School, where she supported adolescent individuals with a range of mental health difficulties — including neurodevelopmental conditions, early psychosis, depression, and anxiety — in meeting their educational needs during psychiatric admission.
Her private practice, established in 2010, provides specialised psychological services rooted in evidence-based approaches.
Lauren is currently pursuing a PhD at Rhodes University and has served as a guest lecturer in the Clinical Psychology Masters programme for nearly 15 years, with a focus on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), neurodivergences, and psychopathology. She is passionate about guiding early career psychologists in deepening their skill sets and theoretical knowledge base.
She is a founding and board member of the South African Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Association (SA-DBTA), an organisation dedicated to advancing DBT in South Africa. The SA-DBTA works to ensure fidelity to the DBT model while making it relevant and responsive to the South African context.
