About Lauren Creese

Lauren Creese is a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Fort England Hospital (FEH) in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, with over 20 years of clinical experience in both the state and private sectors. Prior to completing her clinical psychology training, she worked in London as a teaching assistant at the Bethlem and Maudsley Hospital School, where she supported adolescent individuals with a range of mental health difficulties — including neurodevelopmental conditions, early psychosis, depression, and anxiety — in meeting their educational needs during psychiatric admission.

Services

I specialise in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), neurodivergent affirming therapy, offering individual sessions and presenting the SpecBLOOM Neurodiversity Series of talks, workshops, and seminars. Inspired by the resilience of the South African Spekboom plant, SpecBLOOM reflects the strength and growth of neurodiverse minds. I also specialise in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), including DBT for neurodivergent individuals, and provide clinical supervision for early-career psychologists.

Areas of specialisation

We provide the following services

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

A well-established, evidence-based therapeutic model designed to support individuals in managing intense emotions, building resilience, and improving relationships.

Clinical supervision

I offer clinical supervision to support early-career psychologists in developing their skills, confidence, and professional identity.

Spec-BLOOM Neurodiversity

My interest in this work is both deeply personal and professional. I’ve had the privilege of walking closely alongside several remarkable individuals whose ways of experiencing the world have taught me far more than any textbook ever could. These relationships have profoundly shaped how I understand and engage with neurodiversity – informing a therapeutic approach that is grounded in respect, curiosity, and affirmation.
